Research, Communications & Engagement
More-Than-Human Lab provides combined research, communications, and engagement services for people and organisations working on environmental and animal welfare issues.
Our services combine qualitative and creative methods to bring people together to tackle the kind of “wicked problems” that can’t be resolved through any single perspective or solution.
To ensure the best chances for research uptake, we co-design our projects with stakeholders and prioritise the co-production of knowledge.
Putting care and collaboration first also means we focus on relationship-building, understanding and appreciating different worldviews – and we support “a world where many worlds fit”.
We are committed to ethical research & engagement , respecting tikanga and mātaurangi Māori alongside Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations, and to ethical design principles, including inclusivity and design justice.
In accordance with current animal welfare science, we also support the Five Domains Model of animal welfare, developed in New Zealand and extending the Five Freedoms.
More-Than-Human Lab specialises in anthropological field research based on participant observation, interviews, and community data collection. We are also very comfortable with desk research, from literature reviews to media and cultural analysis.
We also specialise in stakeholder workshops, and have experience running them both indoors and outdoors, as well as online and by post.
When it comes to communicating our findings, we are able to prepare written reports and summaries, web content and newsletters, photographic and illustrated narratives.
We will work with you to determine the right approach for your stakeholders – please just contact Anne to discuss your needs!
